Cali Swag District Member Killed in Drive-By Shooting

Montae Talbert, the rapper affectionately know as M-Bone from the music group Cali Swag District, was killed late last night in an apparent drive-by shooting in his hometown of Inglewood, California.
Montae became famous when his group released the smash dance hit ‘Teach Me How to Dougie,’ and his death comes as a shock to all. CNN reports the 22-year-old was sitting inside of his vehicle after leaving a local liquor store at 11:32pm, and a lone driver coming down La Brea Avenue pulled next to him and started firing at least two rounds of shots. He was hit in the head and rushed to the hospital where he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries. Though it’s still very early in the investigation, detectives are speculating that this was a ‘wrong place at the wrong time’ situation.
Smoove, the lead vocalist for Cali Swag District, tweeted:
“Ma life changed drastically in the. Blink of an eye rip mbone.”
This is so very sad.

Woman Sues Match.com Over Sexual Assault

Match.com making changes over sexually assaulted woman's lawsuit.
Popular dating site Match.com will now start screening its members against a database of sex offenders.
Match.com said that this change in policy was accelerated after a Los Angeles woman filed a lawsuit against Match.com. The woman claimed that she was sexually assaulted by a man whom she met through the online dating service.
The lawsuit requested a temporary injunction to stop the site from allowing new members until it put into action a screening mechanism. The woman, however, did not seek any monetary compensation.
"This horrific ordeal completely blindsided me because I had considered myself savvy about online dating safety," the woman said in a statement released through her attorney. "Things quickly turned into a nightmare, beyond my control."
Match.com said that there are still many imperfections to its screening system.
“We want to stress that while these checks may help in certain instances, they remain highly flawed, and it is critical that this effort does not provide a false sense of security to our members,” said Match.com president Mandy Ginsberg.
Match.com plans to implement the screening policy within the next two to three months, according to the AP.

Robberies, Redlands shooting prompt arrest - Nathaniel Dawson

AT least 30 FAST FOOD spots HIT . DUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMB

A 45-year-old Highland man is behind bars today in connection with several holdups, including one that involved the shooting of a Dairy Queen employee in Redlands, according to San Bernardino County sheriff's officials and jail records.
Nathaniel Dawson
Nathaniel Dawson was arrested at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday by sheriff's deputies near Base Line and Victoria Avenue in Highland and booked for investigation of robbery, attempted murder and vehicle code violations, jail records show.
Sheriff Rod Hoops has scheduled a 1:30 p.m. press conference today in San Bernardino to release details.
Dawson's arrest followed a mid-morning robbery at a Wendy's restaurant near I-210 in Highland, said sheriff's spokeswoman Arden Wiltshire.
The Dairy Queen holdup happened at 3:45 p.m. March 23 along the 600 block of East Redlands Boulevard in Redlands.
The gunman forced employees to open the cash register, Redlands police said at the time in a written statement.
"He then forced the employees to the back of the store where he shot a female employee in the leg before fleeing through a back door," according to the statement.
The robber at the time was described as a black male in his 30s, between 6-feet-2 and 6-feet-4 and 200 pounds.
According to his booking records, Dawson is 6-feet-1 and 165 pounds.

19yr. old SHOT in the TACO BELL drive-thru

RIALTO, Calif. (KABC) -- The search is on for a gunman who shot and killed a 19-year-old going through a drive-thru in Rialto.

It is a devastating loss for Joshua Huizar's family. His family and friends are demanding justice for a life cut short.

Mourners gathered around a makeshift memorial, just feet away from the Taco Bell drive-thru where Huizar was gunned down.

"I just can't put it into words," said mother Elsa Huizar. "But I just want the person caught that took my boy's life. He didn't deserve that."

The deadly violence happened around 1 a.m. Sunday at the Taco Bell on the 12000 block of East Baseline Road.

Huizar's girlfriend, who was in the car with him, said it all happened so fast.

"It was like a dream," said Viridiana Sanchez. "We were just hungry, and wanted to come here and eat. And that guy just pulled up, pulled a gun out. He wanted to rob us, but we didn't have money. He got mad, and he shot him."

Sanchez said the gunman walked up to the car and wanted money and their cellphones. That's when Huizar tried to drive away, but the suspect opened fire.

Paramedics tried frantically to save Huizar's life, but he was pronounced dead at the hospital. His girlfriend wasn't hurt. Police are now searching for the killer.

"He should be considered dangerous," said Officer David Shepherd from Rialto Police. "The detectives are looking at similar crimes that may have occurred in the area, to see if there is any commonality and looking at any leads that they may have to find this guy."

At this point police only have a vague description of the suspect. Huizar's friends and family are asking for the public's help.

"I want to see him caught," said Rosa Jimenez who is Huizar's aunt. "So he doesn't do this to anybody else."

Detectives are checking the restaurant security cameras to see if there is a good shot of the suspect. If you have any information call Rialto Police at (909) 820-2590.

Ban on Smoking in outdoor areas

It is now illegal to light up in outdoor dining areas in Los Angeles under a new law that took effect Tuesday to protect restaurant patrons from secondhand smoke.
The Los Angeles ordinance prohibits smoking within 10 feet of outdoor dining areas and food courts and within 40 feet of food carts and mobile food trucks. Bars and 18-and-older nightclubs with outdoor areas are exempt from the law.
Our sister blog L.A. Now has more. But before you go, vote: What do you think of the smoking ban? Do you think it will hurt business by driving away smokers? Or will it help attract customers?
Personally, I wish the Los Angeles City Council was a little more aggressive and banned smoking in nightclubs with outdoor areas. Maybe the rest of us non-smokers would like some fresh air too.

New Zealand earthquake magnitude 6.3 hits Christchurch

The quake occurred at 12:51 p.m., during a normal workday in Christchurch, according to the US Geological Survey. The epicenter was relatively shallow –just 3 miles deep – and close, about 6 miles from the country's second largest city, where some 26,000 full-time employees work.
"Obviously this earthquake has taken place at a time where people have been going about their daily business. We're doing everything we can to make sure that people are safe and are evacuating the central city," said New Zealand Prime Minister John Key, about an hour after the quake hit. After an emergency cabinet meeting scheduled for 3 p.m. local time, the prime minister is scheduled to fly to Christchurch.
The city was struck by a force 7.1 quake last September, Reuters reports, which caused serious damage and dented the national economy but caused only minor injuries.
"The quake is significantly smaller than the previous Christchurch earthquake, however it was very shallow and might have been very close to the centre of the city," Civil Defence spokesman Vince Cholewa told the Herald.

Arizona Shooting ..

Jared Loughner, head shaved, a cut on his right temple and his hands cuffed, stared vacantly at a packed courtroom Monday and sat down. His attorney, who defended "Unabomber" Ted Kaczynski, whispered to him.
It was the nation's first look at the 22-year-old loner accused of trying to assassinate Rep. Gabrielle Giffords.
The three-term Democrat lay about a 100 miles away in a Tucson intensive care unit, gravely wounded after being shot through the head but able to give a thumbs-up sign that doctors found as a reason to hope.
Loughner seemed impassive and at one point stood at a lectern in his beige prison jumpsuit. A U.S. marshal stood guard nearby.
The judge asked if he understood that he could get life in prison -- or the death penalty -- for killing federal Judge John Roll, one of six who died in the shooting rampage at Giffords' outdoor meeting with constituents Saturday in Tucson.
"Yes," he said. His newly appointed lawyer, Judy Clarke, stood beside him as the judge ordered Loughner held without bail.
The judge ordered Loughner held without bail. The next court hearing was set for Jan. 24.
Throngs of reporters and television news crews lined up outside the federal courthouse, where the hearing was moved from Tucson. The entire federal bench there recused itself because Roll was the chief judge.
Ammunition purchased hours before
Loughner bought his ammunition at a Walmart store hours before the shooting, the Wall Street Journal reported Monday.
He was turned away from one Walmart when he tried to purchase ammunition but was sold the bullets at another Walmart nearby, the Journal reported, citing people familiar with the case. Walmart later told the Journal that that Loughner was not turned away from the first store, but left before completing the purchase.
A Walmart official said Monday night that the company reached out to law enforcement after one of its employees recognized a picture of Loughner on television as someone who had been in a store.
"We stand ready to provide any information or video surveillance footage we may have to investigators that can help them as they work to determine all of the facts," said company spokesman Dan Fogleman in a written statement.
Also Monday, the Journal reported that Loughner's father has prepared a public statement. Citing a neighbor who met with the family, the Journal reported that the father, Randy Loughner, had written a statement, but wasn't sure when to release it.

a MOSQUE .. umm LAST DAYS ??

A proposed mosque in Temecula has won the unanimous support of the local planning commission following more than five hours of often heated public testimony.
Critics assailed the project as promoting both terrorism and traffic tie-ups. But commissioners ruled Wednesday night the new religious center complied with local laws and would be aesthetically impressive.
“Many good people came to support it -- Christians, Jews, Bahais, you name it,” said Hadi Nael, chair of the Islamic Center of Temecula Valley, speaking Thursday morning. “I’m proud of that as an American citizen. It shows that justice prevails.”
“The opposition is very minimal,” he added. “They just have very loud voices. We have beautiful people in this valley.”
The meeting began at 6 p.m. and lasted until nearly midnight with most of the time taken up with people speaking for or against the center, about evenly divided, according to the Press-Enterprise.
The debate continued on the newspaper’s website. “There is no more America,” wrote one commenter. “It is another Planet of the Apes with Miss Liberty dead in the sand. America has fallen.”
Planned Islamic centers also have sparked protests in other parts of the country, including near ground zero, the site of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks in New York City.
In the Temecula Valley, Imam Mahmoud Harmoush has denounced violence. His congregation of about 135 families has co-existed without incident in Riverside County for years but wanted a larger and better space than the warehouse it rented on a property shared with a manufacturer of water-filtration systems.
The new 24,943-square-foot mosque with Mediterranean-style architecture would include two minarets and rise as tall as 43 feet. It would occupy a 4.32-acre site on Nicolas Road about two miles east of Chaparral High School.
Opponents can still appeal the project to the City Council.

'Bad Girls Club' Chick Busted -- Coke, Ecstasy, Gun

FiRST off , a BAD GIRL never GETS caught .-Amethyst

One of the hell raisers from "Bad Girls Club" was the target of a huge drug bust yesterday -- after cops allegedly found her in possession of a bunch of drugs ... and a gun.
The Philadelphia District Attorney's Office confirms Catya Washington was arrested yesterday for illegally possessing cocaine, mushrooms, ecstasy and one firearm.

We're told she was booked on five charges -- including possession with intent to manufacture or deliver, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of an instrument of crime.

Washington's bail was set at a whopping $500,000 -- it's unclear if she's still behind bars.

We're told she's due back in court on November 22.
